In a current culture filled with noise, conflict, division and opposition, the 2017 International Women’s Day theme #BeBoldForChange couldn’t be more timely.

International Women’s Day is officially March 8th but the campaign has begun now.

International Women’s Day dates back to the early 1900’s—a turn of a century in the industrialized world, characterized by population growth, “technology” expansion and a rise in “radical” ideas and change. From women’s voting rights, workplace rights, expected dress codes and styles and

Today, IWD has become a global celebration of social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women—as well as a call (and reminder) to continued progression and sisterhood amongst all womankind. No one government, NGO, charity, corporation, academic institution, women’s network or media hub is solely responsible for International Women’s Day. Instead, it is an event run by women for women and our very own Erin Hicock played a role in creating a video to put out there to the world by the Global Sisterhood, an ongoing extension of IWD after the one-day is done.

The Global Sisterhood is a movement of women devoted to transforming themselves and changing the world. The “sacred” Sisterhood began last year on International Women’s Day, March, 8th 2016, and in one year alone, over 1200 Sister Circles in 70 countries have unified every new moon (including here at Soma Vida) to discuss transformation within their own worlds, personal growth and support of one another.

In the name of IWD 2017’s invitation to be bold for change and lift another woman up, the Global Sisterhood, invites you to take the Sacred Sisterhood Pledge.

Ready to pledge your support? What is ONE way you can lift another woman up today?

Soma Vida has taken the Global Sisterhood pledge and we will be hosting our very own special event on March 8th, in honor of International Women’s Day and in solidarity with A Day Without A Woman. In collaboration with our Community Members, Soma Vida will offer, SHE Sanctuary, a day of respite and self-care for women who are working, women who are leading, women who are mothering, women who are striking… for ALL women who are resisting.

Please join us for a full day of collective action and community support. All women who seek sanctuary with us will receive COMPLIMENTARY coworking, yoga and wellness services. Please visit our FB event page to see the day’s events.

At Soma Vida, we UNITE in the name of SELF-LOVE and SELF-CARE and offer sanctuary to our dear sisters!

Regardless of your political affiliation, social issues stances, job, age, income, marital status, education, Instagram likes or Facebook following, IWD invites “sisters” to unite on one front: I am woman watch me roar!

Stay tuned on our Facebook for gatherings and happenings in Austin the week of March 8th
